Hands of Hope
Resources for Homeless Families
Volunteer Page
You meet the nicest people at Hands of Hope. Whether working in the Towel Room sorting toiletries and filling gift bags for our clients, organizing the Clothes Closet, working in the Office or helping children in the Early Childhood Center or the K-12 room, there's always something to do and someone to talk to.
Volunteer Forms
All of our volunteers have been fingerprinted, have completed a background check, and have been trained for service with Hands of Hope.

If you would like to volunteer, please download the Volunteer Application (Volunteer Resources Form) and the Request for Live Scan Service (see links at left) and follow these steps:

1.) Complete the Volunteer Resources Form, and mail or deliver it to Hands of Hope.

2.) Complete the Request for Live Scan Service and get your fingerprints scanned for the Department of Justice background check.  This check is for California felony convictions only, is confidential, and is taken by teachers, childcare providers, medical personnel, and many other professionals throughout California.  (see below.)

3.) Attend the next Volunteer Training (one evening, three hours, and you go home completely trained and certified.)  Call 755-3491 for the next training session.

4.) You will be called by Hands of Hope when your fingerprints clear, and you may sign up to work in the Service Center.

Directions for Fingerprint/Background Check

Fill out the Request for Live Scan Service (RLSS).  The RLSS has six sections.  Sections 1 and 2 are already filled out.  You must fill out Section 3 (it begins with “Name of Applicant”) with your personal information. The fingerprint technician fill out the rest.

Take your filled-out RLSS to the UPS Store at 1040 Lincoln Rd., Ste # A, Yuba City.  They do fingerprinting Monday–Friday 9 am to 7 pm, and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm.  The Live Scan fee is $25.  Tell them you are from Hands of Hope and they will give you a $ 5.00 discount  (no other discounts or coupons apply.)  Thank them for their support for Hands of Hope.

The clerk at the UPS store will submit your fingerprints electronically and keep the original RLSS.  You will be given two photocopies of your RLSS.  Keep one of the copies (and the receipt) for yourself. The other copy needs to be returned to Hands of Hope.

If you have any questions about fingerprinting, please call Jim Bursey 673-2375 or 713-9911.
