The employees of Recology Yuba-Sutter (formerly Y-S Disposal Inc.) recently raised over $5,000 and distributed it among several local homeless-response agencies.  Here, Vice President Dave Vaughn of Recology Yuba-Sutter presents Hands of Hope with $1,250 in support of our local operations.The Sutter Buttes Quilt Club presented the children of HOH with 20 beautiful, hand made quilts. Members of the River Valley High School “S” Club (a girls’ service club sponsored by Soroptimists International) recently applied for a Youth Peacemaking Project grant through St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, and bargain-shopped the $230 grant into children's clothes.Sutter Union High School's Future Business Leaders recently toured our service center and donated 250 “hoodies” collected in a school-wide drive, which will be distributed through HOH clothing closet.April 21, 2009 Hands of Hope received a helping hand from Live Oak High School student, Gabriel Carrasco, whose Senior Project raised money for Hands of Hope. Gabriel’s project was a great success and Hands of Hope will benefit from his hard work. Here, he is presenting Mike with a $500 check.For the third year in a row, members of the California Junior Scholarship Federation at Brittan School in Sutter have supported HOH with the proceeds from their annual barbeque fundraiser.  Here, the current CJSF officers present a check for $850.Sutter County Superintendent of Schools Staff Association recently donated $500 to Hands of Hope, and has committed to partner with us during the next school year.  Association President Mike Greer made the presentation at our recent “Grand Opening.”Rotaract  Club President,Mike Serpa, challenged club members to pledge to Hands of Hope if he could successfully bench press 500 pounds.  Mike and the club raised $330, and presented it recently at our center.Pastor Dori Torrey of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Marysville, and event organizer Harry Fox present a check for $2267, the proceeds from their most recent Oktoberfest fundraiser for Hands of Hope. Zulma Ortega, a senior at Live Oak, completed a busy season as a volunteer. She worked in our Cold Weather Shelter Program, helped organize our children's rooms and for her Senior Project, she organized a clothing drive for HOH.Oakland A’s Max Stassi hit 110 “out of the park” in thirty minutes during his recent “Homers for the Hungry and Homeless” event in Yuba City. Max raised $1800 for Hands of Hope, and over $6000 in food and cash donations for seven local food closets in Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa counties.
